Governor Andrew Cuomo lost the endorsement of a local Democratic club in Manhattan Thursday night after the group decided to back one of his primary opponents, Zephyr Teachout.
Of the 26 votes cast at the Village Independent Democrats club, Teachout received 14 votes and Cuomo got six. No endorsement was supported by four people while comedian Randy Credico got two votes. Teachout won the clubs endorsement on the first ballot. In May, before Teachout entered the race, V.I.D. decided not to endorse any candidate for governor.
Teachout, a Fordham University law professor, lost the endorsement of the Working Families Party to Cuomo earlier this year.
