During Thruway stop, State Police find 1,500 envelopes of heroin

State Police yesterday afternoon pulled over a vehicle headed northbound on the Thruway near Albany for illegally tinted windows. Inside, police found 1,500 small plastic envelopes of heroin.

Two men were arrested with two felony counts of drug possession and sale: Michael J. Rodriguez, 41, and Antonio Cruz, 46, both from Allentown, Pa.

State Police said in a news release today that a trooper detected an odor of marijuana coming from inside the vehicle. In addition to the heroin, a small amount of marijuana was found, police said.
