Siena poll: Cuomo keeps 37 point lead over Astorino

Laura Nahmias

ALBANY—Governor Andrew Cuomo continues to hold a 37 point lead over his Republican challenger, Rob Astorino, and a significant majority of voters are still unfamiliar with the three candidates running against Cuomo, a new Siena poll shows.

Cuomo would win 60-23 against Astorino in the hypothetical matchup, according to the poll, which measured likely gubernatorial voters for the first time this cycle, after previously polling registered voters.

When Cuomo is paired against an anonymous candidate—“someone else”—he would win by a smaller margin. Only 54 percent of voters say they’d vote to re-elect him, and 38 percent say they would prefer someone else.

Cuomo has held a significant margin against Astorino in Siena polls for several months.
