In light of concerns, Education Department will release test data

This appears to be a new twist in the ongoing saga of the Common Core and its attendant tests: Education Commissioner John King on Wednesday said hell be releasing instructional reports on this years Grade 3-8 English and math tests early.
In addition to reports, which give teachers and administrators granular looks at how kids did on particular questions, the Education Department also is releasing half of the questions. In the past theyve released 25 percent. This is costly since once the questions are released the state has to print and put out new questions for the next round of testing.
This comes amid the ongoing worry about the tests following the shift to the Common Core learning standards. Even though state officials have warned that scores on the new tests would initially be low due to the change, teachers have complained that they werent prepared to teach to the new tests, and even students and parents have been upset by the scores.
