Ex-Brooklyn prosecutor who defended wrongful conviction appointed to high-level job at NYPD

JOHN MARZULLI , THOMAS TRACY

An ex-Brooklyn prosecutor who vigorously defended a wrongful conviction that kept an innocent man imprisoned for more than 15 years has a new gig at the NYPD.

Kevin Richardson was appointed deputy commissioner of the department advocate’s office, where he will prepare and prosecute departmental trials, cops said Friday.

In 2010, Richardson, then an assistant district attorney for DA Charles Hynes, went to federal court to defend the prosecution of Jabbar Collins, who was convicted of killing a Williamsburg rabbi in 1995.
