In editorials, Cuomo ripped for Moreland Commission

handling of the corruption-busting Moreland Commission, which the governor disbanded in April.

After the New York Times report Wednesday about meddling into the panel’s work by Cuomo’s top aides, editorial pages on Sunday ripped Cuomo, saying he has failed to clean up Albany since he took office in 2011.

“Whether Cuomo should resign over this scandal is up to him. (Just a guess: He won’t.),” the Daily Gazette in Schenectady wrote. “But if the allegations are proven through an independent investigation to be true and possibly criminal, then the governor and all those who acted on his behalf should rethink their careers in public service.”

The Albany Times Union editorial page wrote: “He owes the people of New York better. Better than an aborted corruption probe. Better than legalistic excuses and rationalizations. And better than a trail of broken promises. He owes the people a real explanation, and a sincere apology.”
