This boy's school bus didn't come for two days; when it did, the ride lasted 4 hours

Hundreds — if not thousands — of public school families in Queens and around the city were left stranded and exasperated over the first days of school due a "terrible" series of school bus snafus, the Daily News has learned.

The number of busing inquiries and complaints logged citywide by Education Department officials climbed to more than 27,000 over the first three days of the school year, up from roughly 24,000 over the same period last year.

... many of the complaints pointed to a provider, Grandpa's Bus Co., that's contracted by the city to provide yellow school bus service for kids. Queens mom and education advocate Meghan Cirrito tweeted at schools Chancellor Richard Carranza to call out the company on Friday.

"@DOEChancellor please respond to parents regarding the lack of bus service from Grandpa's Bus. Buses are no-shows & parents cannot get through to OPT to file complaints or get assistance. We deserve some guidance & acknowledgement," read the Tweet.

Carranza didn't respond, but the city schools account referred the angry mom to an Education Department official tasked with providing transportation aid. Grandpa's spokesman Corey Muirhead said the company had corrected the issues it encountered over the first two days of school. "Grandpa's had a rough first couple of days and we want to sincerely apologize to all the parents and students affected,".
