Over 2,700 NYC residents quarantined in homes over coronavirus fears
City Health Department officials are monitoring 2,773 New York City residents who are quarantined in their homes amidst the coronavirus outbreak, the agency announced Thursday.
Most of the people are under voluntary, home isolation although two New Yorkers the Manhattan health care worker who traveled to Iran and her husband are under mandatory quarantine.
The quarantined New Yorkers are largely people whove recently returned home from five international hot spots. The countries are China, South Korea, Iran, Italy and now Japan. That number will change daily as New Yorkers return home from those countries.
We reach out to them on a daily basis to make sure they are not developing symptoms, City Health Commissioner Dr. Oxiris Barbot said at a press briefing Thursday.
