Including The Cities Of, Kingston, New Paltz, Poughkeepsie,
Beacon, Arlington

Winter Weather Advisory In Effect From 1 PM This Afternoon To
6 AM EST Wednesday,

The National Weather Service In Albany Has Issued A Winter
Weather Advisory For Snow, Which Is In Effect From 1 PM This
Afternoon To 6 AM EST Wednesday.

* Locations, Eastern Ulster And Western Dutchess Counties
Including The City Of Poughkeepsie.

* Hazard Types, Snow

* Snow Accumulations, 3 To 8 Inches. The Highest Totals May Be
South And East Of Poughkeepsie.

* Maximum Snowfall Rates, Up To An Inch An Hour.

* Timing, .Snow Will Develop Early This Afternoon And Continue
Into The Overnight Period.

* Impacts, Snow Covered Roads And Poor Visibility Leading To
Hazardous Travel Conditions. If Higher Totals Occur, Then A
Potential Upgrade To A Warning For Parts Of The Area May Be
Needed Later In Time.

* Winds, North 10 To 15 Mph With Gusts Up To 25 Mph.

* Temperatures, In The Single Digits To Mid Teens.

Precautionary/Preparedness Actions,

A Winter Weather Advisory For Snow Means That Periods Of Snow
Will Cause Primarily Travel Difficulties. Be Prepared For Snow

Imagine any other profession where you could be wrong 75% of the time and be able to keep your job?

I'm in Emporia Kansas and we haven't had a decent snowfall yet this year. There were 2 big snowstorms south of us, several big snowstorms north of us, and when we were finally in the direct path, we got a lousy 3 inches while other parts of the state got 6+. Now, a stupid ridge is in place that's keeping all the snowstorms in the eastern US and leaving the west and central US in a drought. So far this winter has been a joke here.
