General Electric’s 2014 dredging goal

Paul Post

SCHUYLERVILLE >> This year’s next-to-last season of dredging will see an estimated 350,000 cubic yards of PCB-laden sediment removed from the Hudson River.

The $1 billion project is 70 percent complete, but two more years of dredging are needed to finish the largest environmental cleanup in U.S. history, followed by a third year for habitation restoration.

General Electric Co. officials on Thursday outlined the goals and objectives for 2014 to Hudson River Community Advisory Group members at Saratoga Town Hall in Schuylerville.

“There’s quite a bit going on preparing for the season,” said Tim Kruppenbacher, GE’s project manager.
