#NYInequality Urges Legislature To Reject Gov. Cuomo's Plan To Slash Bank Tax

KEN LOVETT
A coalition of progressive groups is calling on the Senate and Assembly to reject Gov. Cuomo's proposed elimination of a tax on banks that would cost the state up to $350 million a year.

Hoping to keep financial institutions from leaving New York, Cuomo has proposed merge taxes affecting banks and other financial service companies.

Critics of the plan, like #NYInequality, whichi is made up of various progressive groups, say it will divert needed money from other partsof the budget.

The coalition is asking both houses to reject the proposal in their one-house budget resolutions due this week.
