"Run For The Warriors" Kicks Off Army Week NYC

By: Bree Driscoll

Saturday marked the start of Army Week here in New York City, the first year of an event that honors our servicemen and woman and raises money for veteran's charities, and the event has special significance in the wake of the cancellation of Fleet Week. NY1's Bree Driscoll filed the following report.

Two hundred and fifty runners raced through Battery Park Saturday morning, honoring the men and women who serve our country.

"It's good camaraderie, bringing the soldiers back together, people that are still in, there are people that are out," said James Devary, a veteran. "It is always good to meet and network with other veterans."

The winner, Andy Clyne, made quick work of the 2.5-mile Big Apple Run for the Warriors.

The Republicans' stranglehold on government spending should have subsided by then.
