Plan for state to fund prison college education courses dies in budget talks, Cuomo administration source says

Two weeks after the state DREAM Act failed to pass the Senate, a plan to provide college education courses to prison inmates has also died.

A Cuomo administration source said there was heavy opposition in budget talks within the Legislature to the plan. Senate Republicans widely opposed the measure first proposed by Cuomo several weeks ago at a conference of black, Hispanic and Puerto Rican lawmakers.
