Council Set To Override Paid Sick Leave Bill

The City Council today is expected to override Mayor Michael Bloomberg's veto of the paid sick leave bill.

Last month, the council approved legislation that would force businesses with at least 20 employees to start providing five paid sick days next year.

In 2015, the law expands to cover businesses with at least 15 workers.

Mayor Bloomberg has been a vocal opponent of the bill and vetoed it last Friday, saying it would increase costs for small businesses.
