Librarian who was fired for closing library early due to tornado warning has been reinstated.

Fired Round Lake librarian reinstated

By: Matt Hunter

ROUND LAKE, N.Y. – After two weeks of being at the center of a small town controversy, Theresa Marchione has her job back. Nearly two weeks ago, the librarian was fired by then director Carol Sheffer for closing the Round Lake Library early during a tornado warning.

"If that was an offense, it was her first offense and to be fired over that was so wrong," said Lois Frederiksen, a friend of Marchione’s who years ago worked at the library and served on the library board.

"I'm very happy, I'm very happy,” Village Mayor Dixie Lee Sacks said. “I think justice was done."

After two weeks of public protest, all but one of the library's board members resigned suddenly Tuesday night.
