NC Early Voting

Early voting in NC started on Wednesday, October 17, and continues through this Saturday, November 3. This year, there is no "marquee" race at the top of the ticket - we don't have a US Senate race or Governor's race this year.

As of yesterday evening, there have been 1,493,455 people who have voted early in NC! I think that is a great number considering that we don't have a marquee race. To compare, in the 2014 cycle there were 1,097,880 who voted early! So, with three days left we have already surpassed the 2014 total by almost 400,000 people.

Here's hoping for the blue tsunami!!

We live in a small mountain town here in western North Carolina. I went yesterday at 2 p.m. and half the booths had people in them. The woman at the registration table said it felt like actual voting day.

My House representative is Mark Meadows (YUCK, the worst of the worst!). It felt so good to vote for his Democratic opponent. I took a former Republican who voted against him as well, so at least we didn't cancel each other out. My Republican friend said we HAVE to have checks and balances against Trump and the R's in Washington. He too voted against all the amendments which the NC Democratic Party suggests doing.

This county is red, red, red. We have both ends of that R spectrum here: Rich, old white people and uneducated, ignorant white people. Seriously, very little middle ground or diversity as seen from the surface. But I will say, I did see more Democratic signs on the side of the road this year, going tit-for-tat with R signs.

But I'm in the NW, and my rep is the odious Virginia Foxx, who could give Meadows a run for his money as the worst of the worst! My county is pretty evenly divided, though. About 20,000 unaffiliated voters, just over 14000 Republicans and about 12,500 Democrats. I voted last week, straight Dem and against all of the amendments! GO BLUE!!

I think I despise Foxx more though. Thanks for the post, moose65! Keep the faith.

The total is now up to 1,634,064!

210,000 more Dems than Repubs have voted so far. Looking good, but we need to keep up the momentum!
