Advice needed: where should we locate in Cleveland for Election Day?

We're deploying to Cleveland to serve as voter protection volunteers. Staff has said we should book a hotel room and they'll place us based on our location. Where should we go?

1. You need to understand Ohio Voter Observer Rules

I suggest you contact the Cleveland Democratic Party office now and volunteer to be an official observer. There is a class to take, but if you want to be withing 100 feet of any voting location, you need an official document from one of the political parties.

3. We're out of State so not eligible...

...but I'm reading the OH Election Law and we're scheduled for training.

2. There are GOTV efforts all over Cuyahoga and Lorain Counties

I would suggest contacting the offices in Lorain, Elyria or Cleveland and see if they can help you with where you are needed.

I am volunteering in Lorain County and will do voter protection on election day.

We appreciate any help we can get! If I didn't already have beds filled with campaign staff, I would invite you to stay with us. We have had guests for several months.

4. Cleveland told us they wouldn't know Election Day needs until last minute...

...so we should book a hotel first.

6. If your doing voter protection, there is training required

A lawyer has to review what you are allowed to do in and around the polling places.

8. They may be able to give an idea then where to go.

A little about Cleveland geographically, if you get a room centrally, you would have a commute of 20 minutes maximum either way. We live in Lorain County and are 20 miles from Downtown Cleveland.

9. NO, they said they to book a hotel and they'd assign us in the vicinity.

Currently thinking of Glidden House (near Case Western where my nephew goes).

10. That will be the inner city

I am sure there are dozens of polling places in the area. The university precinct might be a good location, in the past, there were lots of challenges with college students.

Glidden House is beautiful and there are a lot of museums and culture in the area. I don't think you could go wrong in that area.

5. Here's a Cleveland song to inspire you.

It's a great city, BTW.
