Democrat Dennis Kucinich chooses Akron councilwoman as running mate in governors race

Former U.S. representative and Cleveland mayor Dennis Kucinich has picked Akron Councilwoman Tara Samples as a running mate in his bid to become Ohio’s next governor.

Kucinich met Samples with their family and friends Friday at the councilwoman’s church in downtown Akron to announce the ticket, branded as a “Power To We The People” campaign of progressive, anti-establishment values.

Afterward, Kucinich put his arm around Samples’ shoulder and said: “This is a moment for the Democratic Party to wake up. The grass roots is waking up. Our motto … doesn’t say ‘Power to we the party,’ it says ‘Power to we the people.’?”

Speaking at Burning Bush church, Samples said she will continue to serve on the City Council while she campaigns with Kucinich.

1. Not a Democrat. He Announced on Fox.

The right is promoting Kucinich to hurt Dems, just like the did with Stein.

2. Well, his running mate is a Democrat and they're running in the Democratic primary

So I figured they were running as Democrats. But I agree he should never have gone to FOX. My FOX-watching brother knew I liked him and didn't understand why I didn't tune in.

So that makes me wonder whether I should support him. Republican strategists have judged that helping him hurts us.

4. Well, I liked Dennis when he ran in 2004, he wasn't afraid to speak out though it certainly cost him

He was vilified as "unpatriotic" in 2003 when he was among the first to speak out against the Iraq war. And his running mate sounds like a kindred spirit, too. But I'm afraid his affiliation with FOX will hurt him.
