I have to take back some of my previous rant!![]() I posted here a few days ago about Gov. DeWine’s mask order for my county in Ohio and about 7 others. I was out and about the day after it was issued, and saw way too few people wearing them and was thoroughly disgusted. Well, this morning Mr. Ohiogal and I were in and out of Lowe’s, Home Depot, Menard’s, and Walmart. (I really didn’t want to go, but he’s trying to match up some old paint for a household project, and he’s not too good with colors ... I think he’s slightly colorblind). So that was my job, help match colors. And, in all four of the above mentioned stores, EVERYONE was masked! And I mean EVERYONE! And, no one whining or making any scenes. Maybe finally some common sense has penetrated the thick skulls around here!

1. Good News
And I have seen that statue of the crying baby. It's in the Vigeland Park Gardens in Oslo Norway. If we ever get to return to Europe, I highly recommend it!!

11. Me too!
In my fevered little brain, I've been trying to figure out how to get out of the US - especially if Ass Face "wins" in November.
Oslo would be very nice! The train trip from Oslo to Bergen was a most remarkable journey. |

6. Rising. Starting today only two days a week can any one drive
We can only leave the house for food or medical supplies or services. Only one of a couple can go in the store. So I pick the groceries then he comes in and I leave so he puts on them on the checker, pays and hauls them to the car and in the house. It’s all a learning curve.
NO HAIRCUTS NO GYMS OPEN YOU FREEDUMB WHINERS. We have no jerks. No wines. We are a big bad Socialist country so everyone does what’s best for everyone. We have to stay local because our favorite grocery store is in an orange zone and we are restricted from driving there Two days ago new high of 600+ new cases but today it was in the 300s. No deaths near us and two cases in our Canton which is like our county. The country has 28 deaths I think. Thanks for asking. You good in O-hi? |

7. Wow, you guys have lots more restrictions than we do.
But obviously fewer cases and deaths. I think business opened up way too soon here. Congress should have extended the lockdowns and given us another check. But they caved in to the Freedumb. I don’t know how schools are even close to thinking about re-opening here. It’s insane. I feel for all the families with school age children.
I worry about my three boys who have all been working throughout the lockdown, especially the one who works in a grocery store, but (knock on wood) were all okay so far! How are you two holding up? |

12. We have the best quarantine on earth.
In paradise, pot is legal, we have the pool and our doggie.
Sorry folks, we bailed US just in time!!! Wish you were here. They have moved opening borders to Sept 18. We haven’t had a border run to renew our visas since Feb. When they do open borders US is not one they will open too. Leaving lots of folks that are expats stuck in US and not able to come back School here is supposed to be all year round. But no thoughts to opening schools. MOST IMPORTANT: Seriously US should absorb this...... WE HAVE STIFF PENALTIES FOR NOT OBEYING RESTRICTIONS THAT ARE ENFORCED!!! We can lose our plates for driving while restricted. Taking a long time to get them back. Maybe including taking the written test again. In Spanish!!! There is a fine of about $400 ( I think ) for other things. Like spit yelling in someone’s face. So no one does that stuff. Imagine!! |

....of the common good, the "pura vida" that they all enjoy together.

16. Sure do. As I said, paradise.
We never had close neighbors. Even they are great. The ones next door are always laughing. It’s nice to hear “happy” every day.

3. Governor Whitmer has strengthened the mask requirement in Michigan.
I'm heading out, tomorrow (running low on Chardonnay so it's a critical errand). For the most part, people in my part of the county are really good about wearing masks but there's always one or two naked faced people in the shops.

14. We have a FB page Mask Up for our county.
People post where they go and who is doing well with precautions and who is not.
There have been some serious improvements in some places once they were publicly outed as not doing well. Others have not, but maybe it is a start. People are good to update if they see improvement as well. It is public and non-political. If people try to get political, they get blocked. |

17. Good news!!!
Thank you for sharing, Ohiogal. I have not been out and about much lately--in large part because folks in my county have not been wearing the "recommended" masks. I'm high risk. I live in one of the counties in Ohio where masks are now required, so maybe it will be better??

We started out so well here. But overwhelmingly our national leaders failed us. I really believe we’d be in a much better place if Hillary was running things.
Stay safe .... ![]() |
