DeWine criticizes GOP advancing transgender girl sports ban

Mikey speaks out ...

COLUMBUS, Ohio (AP) — Ohio’s Republican governor questioned Friday the need for a legislative ban on transgender girls competing in sports, pushing back on GOP lawmakers’ attempt to pass the controversial measure.

Gov. Mike DeWine’s comment appearing to oppose such a policy came one day after fellow Republicans in the House inserted the ban into an unrelated bill, saying such a prohibition was needed to protect girls from unfair competition.

But DeWine said there were better ways to deal with the question.

“This issue is best addressed outside of government through individual sports leagues and athletic associations, including the Ohio High School Athletic Association, who can tailor policies to meet the needs of their member athletes and member institutions,” he said.

Why have lopsided bigotry?
I posted a story a few days ago about a professional boxer who is trans male that has not been able to get a fight since his first professional win 2 years ago.
Are boxers avoiding fighting him just based on their garden variety bigotry? Or based on bigotry and ignorance in a different way? Are they are afraid of people saying ignorant shit like they were beaten by a girl?
I suspect both things are true. He has proven himself a worthy opponent, but can't get a fight.

Are the idiots in the GOP so ignorant that they think a trans boy would not be competitive in boys' sports?
Nothing these idiots do make any sense. I don't even know why I bother to try to make sense of their nonsense.

Lauren Boebart was properly roasted online a few days ago when she lamented about how wrong it is that, the top US Olympic female weight lifter will have to compete against New Zealand's weight lifter who happens to be trans.

Facts be damned of course.
The US weight lifter has lifted heavier weights than New Zealand's athlete. So the only thing that matters to this nincompoop is the other athlete is trans. Their stats - which gives an edge to USA's athlete means nothing.

That's the other part of this silly argument that has bothered me. Not only is it offensive to trans athletes. I find it offensive to the female athletes that work hard, train, are skilled at what they do. These idiots diminish their talents and hard work.

Its also troubling in that they think of youth sports as only winning and losing vs all the other benefits that children get from participating in team sports. Perhaps if more of the GOP played team sports in their youth, they would have developed a sense of responsibility, team work and positive self esteem.

It was heartbreaking and infuriating but the same time. I really believe he cannot find an opponent because if he wins, the others will all be ashamed of “losing to a girl.” Thank you for posting it, it was very informative.

I have to say DeWine, being a Republican, surprised me on this. Every now and then he comes out with something sane and reasonable, although he’s still a Republican and I would never vote for him.

And not ONE incidence of a problem posed by transgender athletes in Ohio school sports. So that shows you right there it’s all about the humiliation for the hardcore GOP.
