House passes bill requiring Oklahoma public school students to learn about Holocaust

The Oklahoma House of Representatives overwhelmingly passed a bill that would require public school students in the state to learn about the Holocaust.

House Bill 3720 would impact students in grades six through 12.

“House Bill 3720 empowers teachers through curriculum guidelines and professional developments to teach Holocaust education,” state Rep. John Waldron, D-Tulsa, said.

The Oklahoma State Board of Education would help develop and distribute the curriculum. Waldron said the Holocaust is being taught in schools but not often enough.
