Finding your new Congressional District

Sorry, I wasn't able to pull it out of the story seperately, but this Post-Gazette story on the court decisions rejecting the GOP's request for a stay contains an interactive map. You can roll the mouse over any area and it will show the exact precincts/area that are in every new district.

1. I don't like being called 18, when I was 14. But I'm crotchety and reflexively oppose senseless

change. rec, thanks Dem.

2. My original 2nd congressional is now the 3rd

where I lived in the general boundaries of the old 2nd almost my entire life (56 years, except my birth year - 1962, afterwhich they supposedly created the 2nd out of the 4th in 1963). Yup, it will be hard getting used to.

3. They dropped you from silver to bronze, there, BR.

Way back in the '80's, we had 2 federal reps in our metro area. I had Bill Coyne, and Doyle repped the south and east of us. Then we lost population, the districts merged, and Coyne bowed out to prevent infighting.

Doyle is a fine Dem Congressperson, but Coyne was better. More progressive, and he was openly pro-Choice. None of this stupid 'we have to say we're pro-life' folderol.

4. Ha!

Since you mention numbers and "merges", my hope is that when 2020 comes around, PA doesn't lose any more seats. We are sortof in the mess we are in because of population loss. Up until the last census (during my lifetime), we were losing 2 seats every 10 years (PDF) where the last census we had lost 1.

Some are predicting we might lose yet another.

5. It would be nice if we stopped losing population, since national population is still going up.

I already feel under-repped by Congress, don't need to lose more seats from our delegation.
