We asked Pa.'s 16 congressmen to talk Russia. Republicans were too busy.
This is the actual headline from Saturday's Post-Gazette's top story.
Just about every Pennsylvania congressman had something to say about President Donald Trumps meeting and press conference with Vladimir Putin. But only a few wanted to talk about it later in the week.
They put out statements, tweeted, went on television. But asked to spend 10 minutes Thursday and Friday talking to a reporter with specific questions, all but four couldnt.
The four respondents Democrats Mike Doyle, Conor Lamb, Dwight Evans and Brendan Boyle criticized the president sharply for his rhetoric about Russia, stood by Robert Muellers special counsel investigation and called for more information about Mr. Trumps two-hour meeting with Mr. Putin.
The other 12 representatives including all 10 of the states House Republicans were either too busy for the 10-minute phone call, or didnt respond when presented with the opportunity, underscoring the political calculating and weariness that has followed the controversial Monday summit.
Lots of great stuff from the Dems who did respond, well worth the read:
