Seven accused priests served in Indiana County, PA

Seven of the 21 priests from the Greenburg Diocese named in the grand jury report released Tuesday, all now deceased, had Indiana County churches among those to which they were assigned.

Father George R. Pierce (1933-2009) four years at St. Gertrude and St. Anthony and four at Holy Family in Seward and its missions, St. Mary in Bolivar and St. Mary in Florence. “The victim claimed that the abuse began in 1968 when she was 12 years old. “She explained that (she) had worked for Pierce, cleaning the St. Gertrude rectory,” the grand jury summary continued. “According to the victim, a normal evening with Pierce included dinner and alcoholic drinks followed by sexual intercourse in the rectory.”

Father Thomas W. Rogers (1923-2005) allegedly tried to sexually assault a high school-aged boy who was hitchhiking in August 1962

Father Roger J. Trott (1944-2017) allegedly committed sexual acts on 12 altar boys between 1985 and 1987 while at St. John the Baptist de la Salle in Delmont

Father Gregory Flohr (1937-2004), who allegedly abused a boy at Immaculate Conception School in Irwin

Father Francis Lesniak (1916-1991), who allegedly abused a teenage boy at St. Francis de Paul Church in Ford City

Father Henry J. Marcinek (1930-1987), who allegedly began abusing a 10-year-old boy at Holy Rosary School in Republic and continued doing so at churches in Hunker and Youngwood

Father Fabian G. Oris (1915-2007), who allegedly abused a girl beginning “when she was around 4 or 5” and then later abused her older sister as well at churches in Fayette County

only to have them dashed.

I thought "Seven accused priests served..." meant served with arrest warrants.

Turns out it only meant that's where they worked and had the chance to be abusers.

Damn.
