GOP candidate says he chose bad 'metaphor' with face-stomping comments

"Governor Wolf, let me tell you, between now and November 6th you'd better put a catcher's mask on your face, because I'm going to stomp all over your face with golf spikes," Wagner said

Pennsylvania gubernatorial candidate Scott Wagner (R) took down a video saying that he would "stomp all over" Gov. Tom Wolf's (D) face Friday, stating that he had chosen a "poor metaphor" in making the comments. Wagner said that "I shouldn't have said what I said" in the Facebook video livestreamed Friday.

Wagner told PennLive.com that he meant his remarks as a "metaphor for how he will approach the final stretch of the campaign."

The remarks had been criticized by House Majority Whip Steve Scalise (R-La.), who has been going after Democrats for their rhetoric on the campaign trail. Scalise, who was seriously wounded when a gunman opened fire at a Republican baseball practice last year, said "there is absolutely no place in our politics for this kind of rhetoric."

Wolf is heavily favored in the contest, with a number of polls showing he has a double-digit lead.

We still have a Repug-controlled legislature and Hillary was favored, as well at Patty Toomey's opponent, to win here in PA.
Yet, IQ45 won this state and it was a serious blow to what should have been a Democratic sweep, both the White House AND the incumbent Repug. senator.
But, it didn't go that way (Thanks, Putin!).

Well, if the state was into shifting that far then, why is our current governor leading by such a large amount? I am glad Tom Wolf is our governor, but I would not have expected to see such strong support for him when so many thought that this was a state that was turning red.

WTF?

I still think something “fishy” happened and the Russians played the EC like a fiddle. And as this is a state with loads of senior citizens, misogyny was a major factor.
The heavily gerrymandered state legislature is full of Repugs that have been there forever. Since they do a lot of favors for constituents (he helped Junior get into West Point!) they’re very hard to unseat.

there if the thought wasn't.

Not a bad metaphor, it was a bad thought period.
