Discrimination on the links? Black women golfers sue central Pa. course that called the cops on them
Two years after the incident prompted a widespread furor, two black women golfers have filed a federal racial and sex discrimination lawsuit against a central Pennsylvania golf course for calling the police on them.
That wouldn’t have happened if they were white or male, Myneca Ojo of Hanover and Karen Crosby of York claim in their U.S. Middle District Court suit.
At issue in the case is what occurred as Ojo, Crosby and three other black women played the Grandview Golf Course in York County on April 21, 2018.
They claim Steve Chronister, a former York County commissioner and a course official, approached them on the second hole and told them they were golfing too slowly. Chronister told the women, who denied tying up play, that he would refund their fees for their club memberships and carts, Ojo and Crosby contend.
