Austin Davis wins Democratic nomination for lieutenant governor: AP

Pennsylvania Attorney General Josh Shapiro, the presumed Democratic nominee for governor, makes an appearance with state Rep. Austin Davis, D-Allegheny County, his lieutenant governor candidate, at the podium, at an East Pennsboro Township neighborhood. State Rep. Patty Kim, D-Dauphin County, also spoke at the event. Austin Davis has won the Democratic nomination for lieutenant governor, according to The Associated Press.

With more than 50 percent of the vote reported, Davis was solidly in front with 387,092 votes, followed by Brian Sims (138,002) and Ray Sosa (57,200).

Josh Shapiro, the Democratic candidate for governor, endorsed Davis in early January. Davis, 32, would become Pennsylvania’s first Black lieutenant governor if he wins in the fall.

From the Inquirer with 67.5% of the vote (around post time) -

This is a BFD because if this now-pair wins, Davis will become the first black Lt. Gov. for the state of Pennsylvania (in fact the first black Democrat for any top-of-the-ticket-state elected position in PA).

I didn't even know who he was but did know about Brian Sims who was also running (and who is from here in Philly). But then I saw that Shapiro had latched onto Davis early on and recommended him as a future "running mate" so I went on and voted for him.

For some reason the Allegheny County Democratic Party endorsed Brian Sims. I wasn't aware that Shapiro had already shown a preference for Austin Davis.

Hmmm ... If I had known that I would have voted for Davis in the primary. Well I will definitely support him now.

and it was mentioned in an email blast and then being on that list apparently put me on Davis' list as well... And I was like huh? Who are you???

And it was right around the time they were finally getting ready to send out the ballots for mail-ins. Otherwise I was ready to go with Sims since he had been "advertising" himself here.

but then when I saw that Shapiro was pushing to have Austin as a running mate (for the general), and I recall some of the mess that Wolf had with Mike Stack and a difficult working relationship, then I figured go with the pair that would generate the LEAST "distractions".

PA is one election away from being in GOP Armageddon if we lose the governor's race.

because I knew we lost the Treasurer and Auditor General slots to the GOP, so I tuned them out and was just glad that we at least salvaged the AG.

I don't recall EVER hearing anything from him.
