The Teabaggers Try to Take Complete Control of Lehigh County... but the Moderates Strike Back

http://lehighvalleyramblings.blogspot.com/2013/05/silberline-county.html

A group of teabaggers has taken control of the Lehigh County Commissioners, and one of them is trying again to be elected as County Executive. This is a group that hates government so much that they almost killed the use of a federal grant for Meals on Wheels. Fortunately, a strong group of moderate Republicans has risen up to challenge them in the primary.

The attached link describes how one of the current County Commissioners (the wife of the GOP Chairman) is providing most of the money for the elections of her fellow teabaggers.

Ott, the teabagger running for County Executive, has no experience running a large organization. His Republican experience has decades of business management and financial experience, and is a former County Commissioner. His Democratic opponent is the current Director of Administration for the County - the number 2 guy in managing the county.

A PAC with unknown donors is also funding Ott.

but the whole Meals on Wheels thing really drives it home. That is a sad and stunning statement on their view of government. When I was a little kid I used to drive around with my mom as she delivered Meals on Wheels and the thought of those kinds of people having to go without that food and human contact is horrible.

the incumbents all won. In one case, the moderate opposition was too divided among different candidates. Fortunately, the Dems have a first class candidate for Co. Executive.
