PVR CHAPIN PLANT aka THE GREEN MONSTER
They call it the Green Monster. Its big, its green, it shakes the ground and makes a noise as loud as a 747 jet engine and residents living near the PVR Chapin plant want something done about it.
Attorney Todd OMalley filed a lawsuit against PVR Partners, L.P. and PVR Marcellus Gas Gathering, LLC on behalf of 20 families living near the PVR Chapin Glycol Dehydration Plant in Monroe Township, PA.

(18,219 posts)If I had to live with this, I would probably go crazy.....I love peace and quiet.
There you are living a peaceful life, and all of a sudden, they put this monstrosity right by your house. Fumes and noise. And who knows how bad the health problems could be since no one is paying attention to that.
But fracking and related industry will resurrect this state! Hold your breath. I mean it, really, hold your breath.

(127 posts)What is happening in these fossil fuel extraction states is a disaster in slow motion.
If this were a hurricane, tornado, tsunami, earthquake, wildfire,or other type of disaster where homes and towns were suddenly wiped off the map the news would be covering it 24/7, FEMA, and the Red Cross would be on the scene. There would be websites, webcams, tweets, apps, facebook pages, "text *999 to donate", and benefit concerts.
If planes dropped from the air, or a massive explosion at an industrial facility, or a bridge collapse - there would be state and federal investigations, hearings, and legislation.
With this type of disaster, happening in slow motion and mostly invisible to the eye it goes unnoticed.
