I checked - this photo is NOT photoshopped. It is from Corbett finally signing the budget yesterday, after using his line item veto.

In the process, Corbett managed to screw up the deal that his hand-picked official had negotiated to allow the financially struggling city of Harrisburg to pay its debts and avoid bankruptcy. That deal had involved the state entering into a long term lease for parking spaces for State employees, which Corbett de-funded.

(14,449 posts)Are there any Democratic cities in America that aren't having issues on budgets and financial stability? Seriously it almost seems like an epidemic.

(9,033 posts)it follows that the ones with budgetary issues are also Democratic.

(14,449 posts)It is sorta embarrassing seeing good Democratic voters being screwed by Democratic politicians.

(14,449 posts)but I don't know of any Republicon in a major city so we need to replace these inept Democratic Mayors.

(9,257 posts)As manufacturing and taxes have fled the cities, they need help from the state which the vast red areas of PA refuse to provide. Philly's Mayor Nutter is doing the best he can with extremely limited resources that get worse every year with no help from Harrisburg.

(9,257 posts)Has a huge problem (no doubt racially motivated) with supporting the cities especially Philly schools, and Corbett knows where his voters live. My brother lives in Cumberland Co. and hears it all the time "I'm not paying one penny of my taxes to support those kids" like they don't deserve to eat or breathe. Despicable.

(14,449 posts)It always makes me laugh when I hear things like this as if their counties don't have children to feed and educate.

(37,449 posts)hire a parking lot enforcement company and restrict the parking on city owned streets and lots around the capital. Meters, gated parking, and lots enforcement. I sure a company would split with the city the costs. If they won't go with a lease, charge them by the car.

"So, yes, Corbett cut the Legislatures funding and then asked them to cooperate with him....
Corbett attempted to turn the conference over to his press secretary when a reporter asked him if he expects the Legislature to play ball after he cut their funding. Corbett yelled at the reporter before again abruptly concluding and leaving the room.
This press conference was one of the weirdest I have ever seen, and serves on many levels as a reminder why Tom Corbett is a bad governor.
Also keep in mind that this deficit Corbett is throwing a tantrum about could have been closed if he had taxed Marcellus Shale drillers and accepted the Affordable Care Acts Medicaid expansion."
