Here's proof that Repubs only control PA. Legislature because of gerrymandering

http://abigfatslob.blogspot.com/2015/09/how-democratic-votes-are-diluted-in.html

Excerpt:

"Pennsylvania is so Gerrymandered that last year the Republican State Senate candidates received about 53% of the vote statewide. Yet they won nearly 83% of the contested seats. That's right -- they walked away with almost 1/3 more of the available seats than they should have in a balanced district setup.

On the House side, where the districts are smaller and hence harder to Gerrymander, they still managed to overcompensate. In State House elections in which Republicans did not run unopposed, they received just over 52% of the vote statewide. Yet, they were awarded with nearly 70% of the contested seats.

Essentially, the Republicans had a bout a 4-point margin over the Democrats in the GA elections. Not a serious foundation to build a case against the policies of a Governor who won in a landslide."

---------
Very similar evidence was previously publicized for the U.S. House of Representatives - showing that most of the votes went to Dems, but their votes were diluted by being ghettoized into a few districts. There are absolutely no standards in State law that limit the ability of the Legislature to gerrymander US House Districts. As a result, we get Goofy kicking Donald Duck.

Any governor up for reelection and state houses need to change to blue.

As in the districts are drawn in such a way to make it difficult for minorities to be elected.

I'd recognize that goofy picture anywhere, sigh.

Unfortunately, what makes the problem intractable is that gerrymandering benefits the party currently in power. So of course that party isn't actually going to change it.
