Kane eyeing re-election run despite setbacks

HARRISBURG — Attorney General Kathleen Kane told her spokesman she plans to seek re-election while facing felony charges, a suspended law license and possible removal from office by the state Senate.

“She indicated to me she is running for re-election,” said her spokesman, Chuck Ardo. “I will not be able to speak for her campaign.”
Ardo is a state-paid outside consultant. He mentioned re-election plans generally in relaying what Kane told him about an upcoming Senate hearing Tuesday on her potential removal. Kane declined an interview request.

If convicted of a felony, such as perjury, she would be prohibited from holding statewide office, said Bruce Ledewitz, professor at Duquesne University Law School. She is charged with perjury, obstruction and oppression in Montgomery County.

to announce her re-election bid. As of now, she is still Attorney General.

It will be interesting to see the dynamics now that Josh Shapiro from Montgomery County has announced his intention to run for AG. For those not familiar with him, he's a Montco Commissioner and he's also very well connected to Gov. Wolf's administration.

I would never vote for Kane. But I supported Murphy last time anyhow. Such a shame that we got stuck with her instead.

Josh may be an attorney but he really isn't practicing for all intents and purposes. He is, however, a very good administrator.
