but very curious about the signs... found this on Greenville Online

Thumbs Up to former South Carolina legislator Lewis Vaughn for his vision and hard work that is making possible a wonderful tribute to the veterans of America’s wars in the 20th and 21st century. Vaughn lives in Greer and is a veteran of the Korean War. He envisioned a succession of signs along a 12-mile stretch of Interstate 385 in Greenville County that will honor veterans of who served in World War I, World War II, the Korean War, the Vietnam War, the Persian Gulf War, and what are being called “Undeclared Wars.” The state House and Senate have passed resolutions asking the Department of Transportation to erect the signs at two-mile intervals along the road, The Greenville News reported. No state money will go into the project, and the community is being asked to raise the funds necessary to put in 12 signs that cost $250 each. Contributions can be mailed to the Korean War Veterans Association, Foothills Chapter 301, P.O. Box 6903, Greenville, SC 29606, Attn: Lawrence Salley, treasurer.
