WTF? Coffee County man accused of killing, beheading woman

Gregory Scott Hale, 37, of Pete Sain Road, Summitville, was arrested Sunday after authorities received information that he allegedly killed a woman at his home. The victim’s name is currently not being released pending notification of the next of kin. Hale is being charged with first degree murder and abuse of a corpse. Authorities have not revealed how they learned of the slaying.

According to an arrest warrant obtained from the Coffee County General Sessions Court, Hale allegedly confessed to killing the woman. Her body has been sent to the state medical examiner in Nashville for autopsy to determine cause of death.

According to the arrest warrant, after killing the woman, Hale allegedly beheaded her and cut off her hands and placed the body parts in a plastic bucket. He then allegedly cut off her feet and other body parts, placing them in another bucket. The warrant states that Hale buried the torso of the body in a burn pile at the residence.

Hale also allegedly admitted to “eating part of the victim,” according to the warrant.
