Conservative USA Today columnist and University of Tennessee law professor Glenn Reynolds caused an uproar on Twitter when he urged motorists to drive over protesters blocking a highway in North Carolina.

“Run them down,” Reynolds, who also produces the Instapundit website, tweeted late Wednesday with an image of the protesters on I-277.

1. He later said he referred only to those in stopped cars surrounded by hostile protesters

He says he was thinking about a Reginald Denny situation.

2. No he wasn't. He's paid to think before writing, not after. He's a Law Professor, should be ex-prof.

3. He should have explained that in his tweet.

That explanation seems rather far from obvious.

Thanks for letting me know. I hate thinking that a law prof could be that stupid. But then again, he's conservative and a former libertarian, so just that should be enough proof.
