District 95 Vacancy (R)Mark Lovell Resigns

I recently learned about the vacancy created by the resignation of Mark Lovell. I started googling to find out as much info as I can and it appears that only one Democrat is running in this special election to fill the vacancy. Her name is Julie Byrd Ashworth. It would be great if we could get a jump on 2018 and take this seat in the House.

I am a total newb, greenhorn to politics and this forum is the basis of most of my learning. I would love to be able to help and would appreciate any advice from the great minds here. I am going to volunteer for JBA. Any thoughts? I was actually sickened to see how many Rs are running. It's part of living in the south though. District 95 is an affluent suburban area of Memphis. It almost feels hopeless, but I still intend to do all I can!

3. Anything is possible, but this is an incredibly red area of the otherwise blue county.

Mostly upper middle class, but the thing that gives me some hope is that there are lots of people here that are not native to the area. FedEx transfers from out of town and pilots mixed with local business owners and good ole boy Drumpf supporters.

2. Keep up the local fight...

Having lived in very blue New England but being born and raised in the south...TN to be exact, I know exactly what you're feeling. I currently live outside of Nashville so I know that struggle acutely, living in a blue island surrounded by a sea of red. All we can do is that which impacts our local communities, so fight your fight. BTW, love Memphis, lived there for four years in Med school....I watched it change in many ways and there's still a part of my heart there.

Ted Cruz won his first election because of how Texas scheduled a special election when most people were vacationing. The Christian Right gets better turnout.

Round up every liberal in the district to actually vote, and she could win.

to refer to themselves? men rarely do.
its a thing that bugs me, and i am convinced it works on people's subtle expectations of how "girls" are supposed to act.

if i had done her logo, i would have her last name/s along the bottom there.
i realize that this is the south here, but she need to "put her name out there", and it isnt in her logo.
