(144,951 posts)Abbott is likely to be the GOP nominee for governor. I am predicting that Goodhair will not run. Abbott is sitting on $17 million or so in a campaign war chest and you do not raise that type of money and people do not give you that type of money to run for attorney general yet again

(18,063 posts)As much as I would love to see Wendy win a gubernatorial race in Texas, I'm afraid Texas voters are not ready. Don't get me wrong - the people of Texas may be ready - but the voters, the people that actually vote are not there yet.
Don't want to lose her talent. We know with the new redistricting maps - whichever ones Prick Perry uses - Wendy will lose her Senate District.
So why not strike nationally? Hillary Clinton and Wendy Davis for President and Vice President of the U.S. That ticket has major gravitas and excitement.

(10,170 posts)I do think we should be out registering voters now, while people are so motivated. We should create a major facebook /twitter campaign to get everyone to commit to 10 new voters. I am posting this to all my action networks.

(18,063 posts)Register voters and start making sure everyone who does not have government issued photo ID can get some. Even if it means we fund raise for it.
And document those who are being denied the right to vote to keep challenging Congress to re-enact the VRA on a national level. The whole freaking country should be protected!

(18,063 posts)Wendy Davis for Governor, update
In the day and a half since we launched our Wendy Davis for Governor draft campaign, we have collectively gathered 13,500 signatures in support while nearly 800 of you have raised $22,000 for the effort.
She's already said she's open to running if she can get wide support, Gov. Rick Perry is attacking her as if she's already his gubernatorial opponent, and her shoes have become an internet sensation.
Davis has been doing this sort of thing for a long time. The Daily Show saluted her efforts, and really, if you haven't watched the video at the top of this post, do so.
And if Wendy Davis hasn't gotten enough attention, Perry just gifted her with a second shot of national attention by calling for a new special session next week to try and pass his abortion restrictions. Davis took most people by surprise this week. That won't be the case next week.
