A police officer was killed yesterday by a man threatening to kill his neighbors with an AK-47. Another officer was seriously wounded. Both were responding to a call about the armed man who was killed after he shot the first officers to respond.
We all know that there are rogue officers but most of them are conscientious and caring human beings trying to do an increasingly dangerous job. Keep them in mind whenever you read about some "cop" with power issues.
Both officers were married and had young children.
Allegedly the shooter was a soldier but no facts about him have been released yet.

(31,810 posts)When you have a link with their names. The Killeen police force have been very good to my company on a few investigations - and I'm wondering if those are officers I've worked with.
On another note - what is it about Fort Hood anyways?

(826 posts)is named Obregon, he has a shattered femur. I think the other is McWhorter, who died. It is in the Killeen paper for Monday.
The soldiers coming back from multiple-deployments with all sorts of issues that are un-resolved. Ft. Hood is the largest military installation in the country and with all the trauma of the unnecessary wars, the realization that our government is not protecting them after they are injured, and the youth of so many the formula is set.
The slain officer was Robert Hornsby. Sorry for the error.

(826 posts)down here to some. Of course the shooter was a soldier from Ft. Hood too so more guns and gun culture there. We ourselves have never owned guns and have never been part of the military so we are way off the screen here. We are not native.
