Leticia Van de Putte Had The Best Response to Last Night's Republican Lite Gov Debate
Senator Leticia Van de Putte is a character. That's one reason the statewide press corps likes her, and one reason why the battle for the state's most powerful legislative position will be so interesting.
It's too bad she wasn't in the debate herself, since neither candidate said much to address the needs of hard-working Texans or faced up to the challenges of our rapidly growing state.
The Dew and Patrick mostly called each other names. Patrick also credited Dewhurst with mismanaging debate on HB 2 during last summer's special session and making Wendy Davis a star in the process and expediting the process of turning Texas into a battleground state. It is comically unsurprising that Dan Patrick can't let any woman take credit for her own efforts -- even when she stands and talks for 11 hours.
After the debate, Senator Leticia Van de Putte issued the following statement:
"Neither Republican focused on the mission of keeping Texas strong with smart businesses investments in things like local schools or local roads and water. Instead they stooped to personal attacks that don't create a single new job and tearing down Texans and their communities."
