Bill Clinton email to Van de Putte donors takes shots at Patrick

AUSTIN — Former president Bill Clinton is throwing his support behind Democrat Leticia Van de Putte and urging donors to open their wallets to help her lieutenant governor campaign in the final weeks of the election.

In a fundraising email Tuesday, Clinton said “the eyes of the nation are on Texas. Leticia Van de Putte is a leader who’s ready and able to move it in the right direction.”

“As I said, the position of lieutenant governor is one of the most powerful in Texas. It’s urgent that we elect a responsible leader like Leticia to fill it — someone ready to work with Democrats, Republicans and Independents to get the job done for Texas families,” Clinton wrote.

Clinton also dedicates an entire section of the fundraising pitch to taking shots — without naming names – at Van de Putte’s Republican challenger, Dan Patrick.

“Leticia’s opponent? He’s more interested in playing divisive politics than he is in bringing people together,” Clinton wrote.

God knows Patrick smeared Clinton constantly and in the ugliest possible fashion, during his days as a Limbaugh wannabe on AM hate radio in Houston. Patrick is a low-life piece of filth whose political career needs to be aborted (and yes, I chose that verb on purpose).
