Tim Cole honorary degree approved by Texas Tech regents (black man wrongfully convicted of rape)



Cory Session prepared himself for disappointment.

But, he was also hopeful Texas Tech would approve a posthumous honorary degree for his brother, Tim Cole, who was wrongfully convicted of rape while attending Tech in the mid-1980s.

After not hearing from the university’s board of regents last week regarding their decision on the degree, Session decided to send them an email. He set up a conference call with Tech officials for Monday afternoon and as soon as he heard the words “We are pleased to announced,” he immediately pumped his fist.

The board unanimously voted to approve the degree.
