3 dead in shootings in West Central Laredo

Two girls died Monday afternoon in a shooting in West Central Laredo.

The girls, ages 6 and 16, were pronounced dead after emergency personnel took them to the hospital, LPD said. Their names have not been released.

Their killer, a man in his 60s, died in a shootout with police, LPD said. He has not been identified.

The shootings occurred in the 1800 block of Convent Avenue.

2. I didn't know this family

but a lot of my friends here did. The house where this happened is a block away from my old office too.

The 16 year old was active in theatre & was in her school's One Act play. Her director, a friend of mine, is devastated. Other theatre friends of mine who are in or just out of high school also knew her & are heart broken.

Apparently, the man was a neighbor to their family & had borrowed $450 from them. Why he came into their house & shot the two girls is unknown right now.

What I find amazing is that although shots were fired as the police arrived, the cops responded first by setting up a perimeter & a couple ran into the yard to get the girls out, not knowing where the shooter was at the time. He later started firing at the SWAT team & they took him out.

Fucker. Why didn't he just put the gun to his head & blow his brains out first, & leave the girls alone?
