WASHINGTON — The House approved Wednesday a deal that would allow Maine and Vermont to dump their low-level nuclear waste from places like the now-closed Maine Yankee in a poor Hispanic town in west Texas.

In a 305-117 vote, the House approved the compact without any of the troublesome amendments that had been previously attached to the tri-state deal, setting up a final showdown in the Senate that will determine its fate.

Sanders never said "Drop Dead" or anything even close. And using that phrase in conjunction with nuclear waste was beyond tasteless. (and it was low-level waste like medical gloves) The reporters made a clumsy attempt at trying to be cute with a two-fer that implied Sanders had not just brushed off the marchers' concerns but had a callous disregard for the residents' health risks.

You're in the media business Steve. If you approve of that kind of writing, well, that says a lot about you. It deserved the hide.
