Lt. Gov. Patrick Vows to Try Again to Pass Private-School Vouchers in 2017

A New National Survey Ranks Texas Per-Pupil Spending 49th

Lt. Gov. Dan Patrick on Thursday announced he will try again to pass private-school voucher legislation in the next regular session of the legislature in 2017. Inconveniently for the lieutenant governor, the annual Quality Counts report came out simultaneously from the Education Week Research Center, and it showed that Texas ranks nearly last among the states in its educational spending per pupil in public schools. In fact the research report makes generous allowance for lower costs in Texas than in other states, and still Texas ranks near the bottom.
Patrick is both one of the harshest critics of public education in Texas and one of the prime reasons for the continued underfunding of Texas public schools. His stance exemplifies the strategy pursued by privatizers in Texas and across the nation: (1) underfund public schools; (2) declare them a failure; and (3) privatize them.

as directed by the Texas Constitution"?

To incumbents, "Did you vote for or support Senate Bill 455 to move the Independent School districts funding law suite from the court system over to the control of the Texas Supreme Court's three appointees panel, after Gov. Abbot's appeal against the children of Texas"?

Vote for the Democrats this election year.
