Obama to Travel to Dallas on Tuesday

President Barack Obama will travel to Dallas on Tuesday for a memorial service in honor of the five police officers killed in the Thursday shooting that left seven others wounded, a White House spokesman said Sunday.

"On Tuesday, July 12th, at the invitation of Mayor Rawlings, the President will travel to Dallas, Texas to deliver remarks at an interfaith memorial service at the Morton H. Meyerson Symphony Center," the statement from Press Secretary Josh Earnest read.

Details on the president's trip "will be available in the coming days," the statement read. Obama, who has been in Europe since the incident, previously called Gov. Greg Abbott to offer condolences on Saturday.

he will be damned if he does or damned if he doesn't. He will either be blamed for snarling traffic and being there only for the photo-op or he will be blamed for not supporting the police if he doesn't attend. It's the same story the right wing has pushed for the last seven years.

I felt a sense of dread when I heard he was coming to Dallas. I too wish he wouldn't. Hoping and praying for a safe trip.
