Dallas DA Susan Hawk will resign, sources say

Sources have told The Dallas Morning News and other media that Dallas County District Attorney Susan Hawk will announce her resignation today.

A source with knowledge of Hawk's decision told The News that Hawk will now focus on her mental health, which has caused her to be hospitalized three times since she took office in January 2015.

KXAS-TV (Channel 5) reported that Hawk had confirmed that she will resign. Hawk has not returned phone calls from The News. WFAA-TV (Channel 8) also reported she was about to resign.

Her office said a statement will be released this afternoon.

I had a lawyer/friend who went to work for her office and she said the woman was a basket case. How in the hell do people like that get elected?

easy answer: she had an "R" beside her name. In some parts of Texas, that's all it takes.

was an incumbent Democrat who has his own personal and professional issues that made him appear to be corrupt and inept. He was elected to DA in 2006 when all county positions were filled by Democrats. Dallas County pretty much is either purple or leans blue at this point so the "R" beside her name didn't get her the job--it was the bad press that swirled around her predecessor (that includes both the mainstream press and the alternative "left" media).

By the way, Hawk was also a district judge. However, she has been married three times--two lawyers and one anesthesiologist, who filed for divorce in January 2015 which coincides with the time where her mental health issues being brought out into the public.
