Texas bullet train, Dallas-area rail line among Trump's transportation priorities

A privately funded bullet train between Dallas and Houston and a passenger rail line connecting suburban North Texas are among a litany of transportation projects considered priorities by President Donald Trump’s transition team, according to The Kansas City Star.

But what that means for the projects either financially or in a regulatory sense wasn't immediately clear Tuesday.

The Star reported that the document doesn't detail how the listed projects "would be funded, how the federal government prioritized these projects or any timeline for completion." It is not known if the document is finalized or a draft, according to The Star.

“The projects are among a total investment of $137.5 billion described in the document,” The Star report read. “Half that amount is supposed to represent private investment.”

Problem with the train is Dallas and Houston are both massive...what happens once you get there?
I've been in Europe, trains are great there. You ride the train to city center and you're good to go.. You get to downtown Houston and want to go shopping...several of the popular shopping areas are 30 or 40 miles away and there isn't mass transit to get there. Probably a $140 billion boondoggle. What's donnie's reward?

but the plan for Dallas is that it would go to the area around the convention center in downtown. There would be access to DART rail nearby and DART rail takes you almost everywhere within the Metroplex. I was able to get around reasonably well on DART rail and the bus system. I don't have any experience with the bus system in Houston, but it does seem somewhat limited compared to Dallas.

The two biggest issues with using public transportation in Texas is dealing with the weather and being able to accept delays in travel arrangements. If those issues are tolerable then I can see where a high speed rail project would succeed.

Your state voted for crooked Hillary.

Note to potential jury: The above statement is sarcasm.

a high-speed bullet train connecting Houston, Dallas / Ft. Worth, Austin and San Antonio in the 1990's - republicans fought her tooth and nail.
