800 miles from home, missing cat found in hole near Highland Park

Nine months and 800 miles later, a Denver cat has been found — just not in a place anyone expected.

The orange tabby was recently discovered caked in mud at a construction site near Highland Park where he had fallen down a 25-foot hole, the city of Dallas said in a prepared statement.

The cat was discovered March 2 when one of the workers at the site in the 3100 block of Harvard Avenue heard meowing, said Gabrielle Vannini with Dallas Animal Services.

It took a Animal Services field team six hours to get the trapped cat out of the hole. Back at the shelter, they discovered the cat had a microchip, animal services said on Facebook.
