Former San Antonio employee allegedly stole, pawned $60,000 in jewelry over 2 years
SAN ANTONIO Police arrested a former jewelry store employee on Friday for allegedly pawning about $60,000 in stolen jewelry from the store she worked at over the course of two years, according to court documents.
Ariel O. Cannon, 34, faces a third-degree felony charge of theft between $30,000 and $150,000.
A representative from James Avery Jewelers filed a police report Dec. 21, stating that a seasonal employee may have been stealing jewelry and pawning it, according to the arrest affidavit.
Video footage shows an employee placing jewelry on the counter to make a purchase before stepping away to get another piece of jewelry from the showcase. Cannon is then seen allegedly approaching the counter and acting as if she was placing the jewelry back in the bags and placing the bags back in the stock drawer, the affidavit said.
