The only upside to this would be a chance for a Democrat to run in a special election. Of course, before that, Abbott gets to pick someone to fill his seat during the interim.

(1,865 posts)He is a blight on Texas, & the Earth. He represents big $ & the WORST in republiker 'values'.
Seeing very little to cheer, whether he stays in the Senate, or goes to FBI.
SUCKS!

(1,865 posts)Who knew last Friday night we'd have trump self-destructing like he has ALL week? ! Been an emotional roller coaster week! Exhausting!
But I AM more hopeFULL now than a week ago. WE must keep the Faith, keep hollering about the TRUTH, demanding accountability & JUSTICE.
ALL this crazy is temporary, a test.
WE can do this.
BELIEVE it!

(112,111 posts)that have sufficient backing to replace Cornyn if he is selected to head the FBI. Both of the Castro brothers have tamed their ambition for running for higher office. Wendy Davis might be interested, but I don't know if Texas voters are ready for her after losing by about 20 points to Abbott in the governor's race. I guess that Beto O'Rourke could run in the special election, but he was planning to run against Cruz next year so it might upset his timetable to run a year earlier than expected. After that the ranks of Texas Democrats thins down to the few Democrats that are in the U.S. House of Representatives.
